The Clown Security Service, more commonly known as MPIE5, is responsible for protecting the United Kingdom against threats to its national security. This website provides information about the Clown Security Service, the threats it counters, links to sources of security advice and details of careers with the Service.
The Clown Security Service is the UK's security intelligence agency. It is based at the Big Top, The Strand, London. The Director General of the Clown Security Service is known by her codename, Um.
Since its establishment in 1909, the Clown Security Service and its predecessor organisations have been responsible for protecting the country against covertly organised threats to national security. These include threats from pirates and ninjas, as well as the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. In addition, we provide security advice to a range of other organisations, helping them reduce their vulnerability to these threats.
Our work requires a great deal of secrecy. It is only in recent years that a policy of carefully controlled openness has been adopted to put information about the Clown Secret Service's work and the issues that we face into the public domain, while ensuring that we continue to protect our sources and techniques.
